How to restore event tracking on my site?
If your site’s design or system has changed, you need to reconfigure event tracking. The best option is to use Google Tag Manager because once you install it on your site, you can set up triggers and tags for GA4 on your own.
Once you’ve installed it, you need to check the settings in GTM and adjust the triggers to the current ones.

How to get GA4 / GTM owner access if the account creator information is lost?
If all the accounts available to you do not have access to GA4 or GTM installed on your site, and you do not know who created them, then it is unlikely that you will be able to restore access. The only solution is to create a new account.
If you have partial access, you can check the mail for the notification letter sent after granting access. In this way, you can see from which mail the access was granted, and most likely, you will be able to pinpoint the user who has full access.
What could be the reasons for a lot of direct traffic in my analytics?
Possible reasons for direct traffic include:
- following links in computer programs (desktop Telegram, Slack, Discord, Skype, etc.),
- following email links, which are not marked by UTM tags in any way,
- following links from PDF files, which are not marked by UTM tags in any way,
- following links in mobile apps,
- short links without UTM tags,
- following links from the HTTP version of your site to the HTTPS one
Generally, we recommend marking all marketing activities with UTM tags, especially in Telegram.
What may be the cause of a dramatic increase in traffic?
If you haven’t run any marketing campaigns on the site and haven’t featured on external sites or resources, but the traffic has increased dramatically, it may be due to bot traffic.
Bots can enter from a source, such as trafficbot.xyz, or a login page that may include “/trafficbot” or something similar. Also, they may have an adequate source/medium, but they will be from countries where you have never had traffic before.
It is quite difficult to determine the reasons for receiving such traffic, therefore, if possible, you should filter it out from the statistics.
